Pursuing Health and Happiness
Is Chronic Disease the New Normal?
We all know the impact that poor health can have on our ability to pursue happiness. In 2018, the NHIS estimated that greater than 50 percent of adults had at least one diagnosed chronic condition. That means that in 2018, over 129 million adult individuals in the United States had poorer quality of life due to chronic illness. The numbers are only greater now.
The sad irony is that a large part of the suffering in the world is preventable. In fact, despite the fears that many have about their genetics, the majority, upwards of 90%, of health problems that we suffer are actually because of the choices that we make. Many of these harmful choices result from a lack of knowledge about the laws of nature by which we were designed to live.
Is it possible that humanity was given not only the unalienable right to pursue happiness, but also the blueprint for howâin the Bible? Proverbs 10:22 states that âThe blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.â Health, as it comes from the Creator, should come with no dangerous side effects, risks of dependence, or depletion of bank accounts.
In a world full of health hazards, how best do we go about following the blueprint for health?
Today, we have the option of following evolutionary medicine versus Creation science. There are a few similarities between the two, but the endpoints are vastly different. We believe that to have optimal health, one must choose the correct paradigm. And just as any thoughtfully designed machine will run best when treated as it was designed to be treated, the human body will respond best when it is given the care that it was designed for.
Here at Wholeness for Life, we teach people how they were designed to eat, herbs and remedies to help heal their bodies, and skills to have the best quality of life through relationships with God, self, and others; all are part of the blueprint for health and happiness.
Know Your Creator
We believe that the best way to understand the laws of life is to know the Creator. You will see in our calendar that we have weekly classes on a variety of topics, including Bible Prophecy and How to Know God. There is a weekly live prayer time that all are welcome to join. For those interested in personal Bible studies, we offer that option as well! These are all free resources.
Eat for Optimal Immunity
When we educate about how to eat for optimal immunity, we begin with the gut, the second brain of the body, where the majority of your immune system resides. We teach people how to eat in a way that soothes the damaged intestinal lining, feeds and repopulates the microbiome, and gets the intestinal cells working again. We do this largely without expensive supplements or devices, and all with education about how to eat and live according to how you were DESIGNED to FUNCTION.
Learn Life Saving Remedies
As much as we appreciate science, it doesnât have all the answers. One reason is that academic science can take years to catch up to clinical practiceâit is believed even up to 17 years. With the threat of future pandemics and uncertain health supply lines, it is only common sense to learn natural and safe ways to prevent disease, reverse illness, and decrease dependence on the
Practice the Laws of Health
While it may make sense that humans should live in accordance with certain laws for them to have optimal health, what laws are necessary to keep is still a mystery. And because the breaking of these laws may not have immediate effects, we continue breaking them, until we suffer the ill effectsâwe start breaking down ourselves.
Letâs consider the law of proper hydration. Most of us know that hydration is very important, however, the optimal amount of water that humans should drink is not known. Some people drink copious amounts of water, while some drink only one or two glasses a day. Does this difference matter?
In 2002, The American Journal of Epidemiology published a study that had looked at the effects of drinking water on cardiovascular health. Over 20,000 men and women were included in the study that spanned a 6 year period of time that began in 1976. The purpose of the study was to see how drinking water affected the risk of dying from a heart attack and stroke. The results were quite dramatic.
Those who drank greater than 5 glasses of water had about a 50% lower risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke than those who drank less than 2 glasses of water. In addition, it was found that drinking water was more helpful than drinking other beverages, such as coffee, milk, or soda. These other beverages actually INCREASED the risk of dying from a heart attack or stroke, compared to those who drank just pure water. The outcome measures of this study showed that water may have an even more significant effect on cardiovascular survival than aspirin.
Isnât it amazing how knowing and practicing just one law of life can so dramatically affect oneâs health? Consider how much more you could improve your health by learning how you were designed to function!
